From contractors to groundworkers, several Croydon-based businesses and workers have made it on the deliberate tax defaulters list.
Reports released by HM Revenue and Customers every three months 'name and shame' the businesses and individuals who have been caught filing incorrect tax reports across the country.
Many are ordered to pay penalties for either deliberately filing errors in their tax returns or deliberately failing to comply with tax obligations.
A construction contractor from Broadway Avenue was added to the December list.
Marian Chiric received a penalty charge of £20,641.36 after £29,487 amount of tax or duty was called into question between April 6, 2019, and April 5, 2022.
Next was Prono Ltd, a company specialising in other building completion and finishing services on 224F London Road, which was identified in September 2023 as a deliberate tax defaulter.
The company was hit with a £26,961.29 charge after £39,503.75 of tax or duty was unaccounted for between August 31, 2021, and May 31, 2022.
John Paul Kavanagh of Selsdon Road, South Croydon, was also issued a hefty penalty by HMRC.
The pipe layer and groundworker was slapped with a £23,296.50 bill after a total of £35,032.35 went unaccounted for between April 6, 2019, to April 5, 2022.
Finally, Keith Andrew Cadogan of Broughton Road in Thornton Heath was fined £35,270.60 after a sum of £53,038.50 went unaccounted for income from the property between April 5, 2015, and April 5, 2016.
