The NHS has revealed that more than a third of appointments take place after more than 24 hours in the UK.
NHS Digital has published data from GP surgeries across the country based on appointments seen in February this year, the latest data which is available.
In February, 88,472 appointments were booked in GPs all over Sutton.
Around 49,000 of these took place within 24 hours of patients contacting their GP surgery, including nearly 43,000 taking place on the same day.
But 45 per cent of appointments took place after at least two days, including 39,565 which were booked more than 28 days in advance.

The data revealed a disparity between practices, where patients are waiting more than four weeks to be seen.
All of the GPs in Sutton made bookings that took more than 28 days to have an appointment.
Cheam Family Practice in Carshalton had 6,405 appointments booked in February, 510 of those took place more than four weeks after the booking – the highest of any GP Surgery in Sutton.
Circle GP Surgery in Carshalton six per cent of appointments after more than 28 days, with 214 of 3,840, while just two of the 1,834 appointments at the nearby Faccini House Surgery in Carshalton were kept waiting longer than four weeks.
