New timetable changes for South Western Railway trains from Portsmouth to London Waterloo will come into effect from June.
South Western Railway (SWR) has confirmed its June 2024 timetable in a bid to improve services across the network.
Changes to these routes are in response to Southern’s new West Coastway timetable.
The new timetable will officially start on Sunday, June 2.
One of the significant changes involves the services between Portsmouth and London Waterloo via Guildford, between Monday and Saturday.
The services will be retimed both ways, which will also permit extra time for SWR customers to connect between train and ferry services at Portsmouth Harbour.
Consequently, fast services from Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo will now depart at 15 minutes past the hour, and stopping services will leave at 33 minutes past the hour.
On Saturdays, the fast services will depart at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour, with the stopping services from Portsmouth and Southsea departing at 37 minutes past the hour.
Morning peak time trains will also undergo minor changes.
This includes the 6.24am from Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo via Basingstoke now set to make an additional stop at Farnborough Main.
The 6.42am from Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo via Guildford will also stop at Woking.
However, the 10.03am from Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo via Guildford will no longer make a stop at Woking.
In addition to Portsmouth to London Waterloo changes, there will be changes to two services to London Waterloo via Epsom, in response to changing travel patterns.
The 6.30am from Dorking will depart eight minutes earlier, at 6.22am, with the 5.58am from Guildford departing 30 minutes later, at 6.28am.
Basingstoke to London Waterloo stopping services, departing at 24 minutes past the hour, will now call at Clapham Junction, while services at 54 minutes past the hour will no longer stop there.
The 6.44am from Southampton Central to London Waterloo will make an additional stop at Weybridge, and the 9.24am from London Waterloo to Alton will also stop at Clapham Junction.
On the other hand, the 11.35pm from Guildford to Aldershot will now leave 20 minutes later, at 11.55pm, and will be extended to Farnham.
Some early Sunday morning services that start and end at Richmond will be altered, instead starting and finishing at Clapham Junction or London Waterloo.
Some services that start at Clapham Junction will start at London Waterloo instead.
Steve Tyler, South Western Railway’s performance, and planning director, said: "Our June 2024 timetable is the result of careful planning, taking into account our customers’ travel patterns and changes by other train operators on our network.
"To provide customers with a more reliable timetable, and in response to Southern’s West Coastway timetable changes, we’re making significant changes between Portsmouth and London Waterloo, and between Southampton Central and Portsmouth.
"We have also made a small number of changes to other services on our network, so it’s really important that customers check to see if their journeys have been retimed.
"Journey planners for services from Sunday 2 June are now showing the retimed services, so we advise customers to check now."
