A person has died after being hit by a train between Purley and Croydon.
Emergency services were called to the lines near Purley Oaks railway station yesterday (May 23) at around 9:47pm to a casualty on the tracks.
Officers from British Transport Police along with paramedics attended the scene.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Metropolitan Police has confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Purley Oaks railway station at around 9.47pm yesterday (23 May) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
