A man is in a critical condition after a police chase in Thornton Heath.
At around 1.05am on Tuesday, June 4, a car is reported to have failed to stop for police which resulted in a police chase that went down Norbury Avenue.
The car then allegedly fled from police and escaped before a cyclist was found hurt in Norbury Avenue.
London Ambulance Service attended the scene, and the man was taken to a hospital in south London.
He currently remains in critical condition, and his next of kin has been informed.
A scene is still in place at Norbury Avenue.
Enquiries are being made to find the car that escaped from police.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “At approximately 1.05 am on Tuesday, June 4, a police pursuit was initiated after a car failed to stop for police.
“The car made off from police and was lost.
“A short time later a male cyclist was found injured in Norbury Avenue, SW16, and London Ambulance Service attended and the man was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
“His next of kin have been informed.
“A scene remains in place at Norbury Avenue.
“Enquiries continue to locate the car that made off from police.
“The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.”
