All traffic has stopped on the M25 in Surrey due to an HGV fire.

The fire broke out on the M25 clockwise between J11 and J12 near Chertsey at around 2.30pm today (June 12).

National Highways (@HighwaysEAST) has urged motorists on X (formally known as Twitter) to allow plenty of time travelling in the area.

Traffic officers are currently assisting Surrey Fire and Rescue Service to get the blaze under control.

It added that the brigade has safety concerns about the vehicle and has urged that no traffic goes past the scene.

The incident has caused 90-minute delays and nine miles of traffic, according to AA.

A video, which was shared on X of the incident, shows bright orange flames engulfing the vehicle.

Large fumes of black smoke can also be seen billowing into the air from the HGV.

We have contacted Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and Surrey Police for further information.
