The Spectator has mapped the approved applications for certificates of exemption to keep an XL Bully dog by postcode district.
Data from a Freedom of Information request shows that the SM5 postcode, covering Carshalton, Eastern St. Helier, and Middleton Circle has the highest number of approved applications for XL Bully dogs in Sutton.
The SM5 postcode had 49 approvals, ranking 318th out of 2,424 postcodes overall.
The second Sutton postcode on the list is SM4, which covers Morden, Morden Park, Lower Morden, and St. Helier.
SM4 was ranked in at number 376 with 45 approved applications of XL Bullies.
SM6, which covers Wallington, Beddington, Hackbridge, Roundshaw, and south Beddington, was the third-highest Sutton postcode on the list.
SM6 came in at number 424 with 42 applications to keep XL Bullies approved.
The SM1 postcode was the fourth highest Sutton postcode which came in at number 716 with 29 XL Bullies applications approved.
SM1 covers Sutton, Rosehill, The Wrythe, Benhilton, and Erskine Village.
The fifth-highest Sutton postcode with 20 approved applications and coming in at number 1,019 was SM3, which covers North Cheam.
In England and Wales, it is a criminal offence to own or possess an XL Bully dog without a valid Certificate of Exemption.
It is also illegal to sell, abandon, or give away an XL Bully dog.
Letting it roam freely, breeding it or using it for breeding, or having it in public without a leash is also a criminal offence.
