A man has been charged with attempted murder by repeatedly stabbing a man in the back and neck.

This comes after three violent incidents in Mitcham which police believe all involved the same suspect.

At around 11.19pm on Monday (June 24) a man was assaulted at Priory Retail Park after he was approached by a male suspect.

Then half an hour, at 11.48pm, police received a call from ambulance staff saying a 61-year-old man had sustained a head injury following an assault at Belgrave Road.

Then an hour later, at 12.51am on Tuesday (June 25), police were called to reports of a stabbing at Saxonbury Close.

The man was rushed to hospital where he is in a critical condition.

The other two men did not sustain life threatening injuries.

Connor Keys, 24, of Dalton Avenue in Mitcham, has been charged with attempted murder among other offences.

Keys is accused of attempting to murder a man on Saxonbury Close by repeatedly stabbing him in the back and neck.

Keys is also accused of section 18 grievous bodily harm against another man as well as robbery, assaulting police officers and racially aggravated criminal damage.

Keys will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today (June 26).

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Anyone who witnessed any of these incidents or has footage, but has not yet spoken with police should call 101 or post on X @MetCC quoting 291/25JUN.”
