The body of a teenage male has been found on Mitcham Common.
Police recovered the body from Bidder Pond at 6.35pm on Wednesday evening (July 3).
He was confirmed dead at the scene and his family has been informed.
The death is currently being treated as unexpected.
His family are currently being supported by specialist officers.
London Ambulance Service sent resources to the scene, including members of the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and an incident response officer.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “At about 18:35hrs on Wednesday, 3 July, officers recovered the body of a teenage male from Bidder Pond on Mitcham Common.
“Sadly, he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“His family has been informed.
“The death is currently being treated as unexpected.
“His family are currently being supported by specialist officers.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called 6.39pm on Wednesday 3 July to reports of an incident at the junction of Commonside East and Watneys Road, Mitcham.
“We sent resources to the scene, including members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and an incident response officer.
“Sadly, a patient died at the scene and was taken to hospital by a third party.”
