A historic Croydon school is set to celebrate its 150-year anniversary.
Purley Oaks Primary School will mark the event on Thursday and Friday this week (July 18 and 19) with a school dance and a picnic.
It will also have 150 balloons on the school playground to match the number of years the school has been educating children for.
Headteacher Griffin has said it is a “privilege” to work in “a friendly setting” which focuses on “inclusivity, resilience and learning”.
He added that he is motivated by making sure that everything school does is working towards having a “positive impact” on the its pupils.
In a full statement, he said: ““I am so proud to be celebrating the 150thanniversary of Purley Oaks Primary School.
“It is a privilege to work in such a friendly setting which champions inclusivity, resilience and above all a passion for learning.
“Our school community will be celebrating this special anniversary on the 18th and 19th July with a school dance and picnic.
“We have supported thousands of families over the last 150 years and we will continue to be ambitious for our children and their families.
“We are driven by our moral purpose to ensure that everything we do has a positive impact on our children’s lives.
“They take pride in their learning and will always strive for excellence.”
