An elderly man has been charged with murdering his wife in their home.
Police were called to a residential address in Raeburn Avenue after a woman was found unresponsive at around 9.30am on Friday, July 19.
She was pronounced dead at 9.32am.
80-year-old Sharp was arrested at the scene and charged with murder on Saturday, July 20.
That same day, a forensic post-mortem examination took place and found the cause of death of his wife, 80-year-old Jenny Sharp, to be “manual compression of the neck”.
No one else is being looked for in connection with the murder.
Today (Monday, July 22) Sharp will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court.
DCI Howie said: “This is a terribly sad case.
“The family are being supported by specialist officers and we request their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time.”
