A 44-year-old man has been left with potential life changing injuries after a shooting in Brixton.

The incident happened in Coldharbour Lane just after 12.20am today (August 7).

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a man with a leg injury.

He was taken to hospital where his condition was assessed as non-life threatening but potentially life changing.

A number of shell casings were recovered from the scene.

No arrests have been made as police enquires continue.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 00:22hrs on Wednesday, 7 August to Coldharbour Lane SW9 to reports of a shooting.

“Officers responded with LAS paramedics. A 44-year-old man was found with a gunshot injury to his leg.

“His condition was assessed in hospital as non-life-threatening but potentially life-changing.

“A number of shell casings have been recovered.

“There have been no arrests at this early stage.

“A crime scene is in place and enquiries are ongoing with detectives from Specialist Crime (Trident) investigating.

“Witnesses or those with video that could help police should call 101 or post @MetCC on X ref CAD 125/7 Aug.”
