Fire crews have tackled a blaze caused by solar panels at a Sainsbury’s store in Sutton today (August 20).
The London Fire Brigade were called to the Sainsbury’s store on Sutton High Street just after 10am.
The fire started when a solar panel inverter on the roof of a multi-level commercial building and warehouse caught fire.
Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Mitcham and Wimbledon fire stations were at the scene.
The incident was confirmed to be over at 2.02pm.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters are tackling a fire on High Street in Sutton.
“One solar panel inverter at the roof level of a multi-level commercial building and warehouse was alight.
“The Brigade was called at 10.10am.
“Crews from Mitcham and Wimbledon fire stations are in attendance at the scene.”
They later added: “The fire has now been extinguished.
“There are no injuries.”
The store reopened after the fire.
A Sainsbury's spokesperson said: "Our Sutton store was temporarily closed this morning while fire services attended an incident.
“The store has now reopened and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."
