Memorial benches in Sutton’s Nonsuch Park are being removed next month.
The benches, which are all over Nonsuch Park and Nonsuch Mansion, are dedicated to people who have passed away by their family members.
Many of the benches have had a notice placed on them, alerting people that the benches are to be removed on September 13.
The benches are being removed on “the grounds of safety”, as stated on the o the notices issued by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council.
Anybody who has a personal attachment to the benches in question should get in contact with the Council.
A spokesperson for Epsom and Ewell Borough Council said: “Memorial benches are commissioned for a minimum of seven years.
“We leave them in place for as long as we can however, we must ensure they are safe for the public to use and replace them when this is no longer the case.
“There are a number which have reached this stage so we must replace them.
“Anyone with any interest in a bench should contactus@epsom-ewell.gov.uk or ring 01372 732000 and ask for the memorial bench team”.
