A man is fighting for his life after a shooting in Brixton.

Police were called to Loughborough Road, close to the junction with Overton Road, in Brixton shortly after midnight on Saturday, August 31.

Two men, aged 24 and 26, were taken to hospital.

The condition of the 26-year-old is not life-threatening.

However, the condition of the 24-year-old has been assessed as potentially life-threatening and his condition continues to be monitored.

No arrests have been made.

Multiple lines of enquiry are being pursued which means that local residents should expect to see more police in the area.

In a full statement, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following a suspected shooting at 00:07hrs on Saturday, 31 August, in Loughborough Road, Brixton, close to the junction with Overton Road.

“Two men, aged 24 and 26, were taken to hospital where their injuries are being assessed and treated.

“The condition of the older man is not life-threatening.

“The 24-year-old man is in a potentially life-threatening condition; officers continue to monitor his condition.

“No arrests have been made.

“Detectives from Trident are pursuing multiple lines of enquiry, and local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area following this incident.
