Three men have been jailed after a sawn-off shotgun, a rifle and £14,000 of Class A drugs were found during a police raid.

When drugs gang leader Daniel Griffin’s home on Church Road, Croydon, was raided on March 5, officers discovered the weapons alongside 200 rounds of live ammunition.

An investigation also led to two of his accomplices – Sonny Panice and Cairo Khalid – being identified.

Panice’s home on Brunswick Road, Sutton, was then raided on July 9 and officers found more Class A drugs.

Griffin, 25, was found guilty of the supply and possession of crack cocaine and heroin, and possession of two firearms and live ammunition. On August 30 he was jailed for 12 years.

Panice, 34, pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin. He was jailed for four years and six months last Wednesday (September 4).

Khalid, 22, of Brighton Road in Purley, also pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin but was given a two-year suspended sentence.

The damage they cause to individuals and communities is far-reaching. That’s why I am immensely proud of the work of the officers involved in this investigation.

"Our sustained efforts to tackle drug supply is an important step in reducing violence on the streets. This investigation should serve as a message to criminals and gang members involved in the supply of drugs - we will come after you and we will bring you to justice.”

The police investigation was named Operation Yamata and was established in 2022 to combat drug dealing across London.
