Two houses in Richmond have collapsed into rumble, sparking a major emergency services presence in the area.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to Lower Mortlake Road after the homes, which were under renovation, collapsed just before 3pm yesterday (September 10).

Pictures on X (formally known as Twitter) show the roof and half the wall of the properties left completely destroyed.

A resident from the house next door claims they heard a loud "bang" and saw "lots of smoke" outside of their window, according to Richmond Nub News.

There are currently no reports of any injuries.

Several unconfirmed reports also claim that the cause of the collapse was due to a potential gas leak.

Your Local Guardian has contacted London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police to verify this.

The incident was over for firefighters just before 5.10pm.

Two fire engines and a Fire Rescue Unit from Richmond, Acton and Heston fire stations attended the scene.
