From delivery drivers to accountants, some Sutton-based businesses and workers have made it on the deliberate tax defaulters list.

Reports released by HM Revenue and Customers every three months name and shame the businesses and individuals who have been caught filing incorrect tax reports across the country.

Many are ordered to pay penalties for either deliberately filing errors in their tax returns or deliberately failing to comply with tax obligations.

A telecoms engineer from Cressingham Grove made the September list.

Michael Joseph Sweeney received a penalty charge of £43,729.87 after £64,073.08 amount of tax or duty was called into question between April 6, 2019, and April 5, 2022.

Redwan Hossain, of 56 Montacute Road, was also added to the list.

The contractor and delivery driver was hit with a penalty charge of £21,947.01 after £51,797.73 amount of tax or duty was called into question between April 6, 2015, and April 5, 2021.

Heating engineer David Peter Owens, of 4 Hayden Court, Garth Road, was also named and shamed.

Owens received a penalty charge of £14,006.08 after £25,465.61 went unaccounted for between April 6, 2012, and April 5, 2015.

Sivasubramaniam Nimalraj - an accountant - of 18 East Avenue in Wallington, was charged with £36,087.40 after £97,750.06 went unaccounted for between April 6, 2016, and April 5, 2019.
