A 23-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after a stabbing in Croydon.

The incident happened in George Street at around 1.55pm today (October 1).

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a man who had been stabbed.

He was taken to hospital for treatment as a priority where his condition is currently unknown.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at about 13:55hrs on Tuesday, 1 October to reports of a man stabbed on George Street in Croydon.

“Officers attended. The 23-year-old man was taken to hospital by the LAS; we await an update on his condition.

“A crime scene is in place.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 reference CAD 3728/01Oct.”

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.53pm today (Tuesday 1 October) to reports of an incident in George Street, Croydon.

“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews and an incident response officer.

“The first of our crews arrived in five minutes.

“Our crews treated a man at the scene, before taking him to a London major trauma centre as a priority.”
