A London hotel which is believed to be the “best haunted hotel in the UK” has been revealed in a new study.

Brown’s Hotel, situated in Albemarle Street, ranks as the UK’s number one haunted hotel based on 2,346 reviews.

The hotel was founded in 1837 and is said to be haunted by the ghost of a maid named Caroline, who reportedly fell to her death from one of the hotel windows in the 1800s.

Another London hotel on the list was The Savoy which ranks number four, based on 7,627 reviews.

This hotel is reportedly haunted by the ghost of a young girl who died in the building.

These are the only two hotels to make the list which has been put together by Miss Tourist.

Yulia Saf, travel expert and CEO of Miss Tourist, said: “Our study of these ‘haunted' hotels sheds light on a fascinating aspect of British hospitality and tourism.

“Many of these establishments, like the top-ranked Brown's Hotel in London, are primarily luxury or historic hotels with rich histories.

“What is particularly interesting is how these properties have unintentionally become part of local lore and urban legends, adding an extra layer of mystique to their appeal.

“These hotels offer a unique blend of comfort, history, and the potential for extraordinary experiences.

“While spooky encounters were not part of some of these hotels’ marketing strategies, they acknowledge the rich history of their locations and embrace their guests' excitement for Halloween thrills.

“What elevates their unofficial ‘haunted’ status is the whispered stories of unexplained phenomena shared by guests, which ripple out and attract more people seeking potential paranormal experiences.

“These hotels appeal to a diverse range of guests—from skeptics to those open to paranormal possibilities—while maintaining their reputation for excellent hospitality.”
