A house under renovation caught on fire in Sutton after a gas main was ruptured.
Two fire engines and around ten firefighters were called to the blaze on Westmead Road this morning at 9.32am (October 7).
The fire had broken out in a two-storey house undergoing renovations, with flames partially engulfing the house.
A gas main had been ruptured, causing a gas leak at the site.
Westmead Road was blocked in both directions between Browning Avenue and Coleridge Avenue, causing slow traffic as a result of the gas leak.
Firefighters quickly worked to isolate the gas supply, preventing further damage.
The fire was brought under control at around 12.10pm, with no injuries reported.
