Part of a flat at a terraced shop in Croydon has been damaged following a fire.
The fire happened at a flat at a terraced shop and dwellings on Wickham Road in Croydon yesterday (October 12) at around 3am.
Six fire engines and around 40 fire crews worked overnight for 3 hours to tackle the blaze.
Part of the first floor was damaged by the fire.
Two people left the premises shortly before crews arrived at the scene and there were no injuries.
In a statement, London Fire Brigade said the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire at a terraced shop and dwellings on Wickham Road in Croydon.
“Part of a flat on the first floor was damaged by the fire. Two people left the property before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
“Control Officers received the call at 0257 and mobilised firefighters from Woodside, Beckenham, Addington and surrounding fire stations attended the scene. The incident was over for firefighters at 0608.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
