A man has died after being rescued from house fire in Kingston.
The fire broke out in Elm Road near Shortlands Road at around 8.20pm yesterday (October 21).
A two roomed flat on the first floor in a residential block of two floors was destroyed by the blaze.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from the flat, however, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
29 residents were evacuated by crews to a place of safety who received support from the local authority.
Another male resident was rescued by crews from a window and two residents were also treated by paramedics.
No further injuries were reported.
Fire crews from Surbiton, New Malden, Richmond and surrounding fire stations attended who were able under control by 11.18pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
