A man has been seen boarding a tram holding a dagger in Croydon.

Police were called to Ampere Way on Tuesday (October 22) at 3.46pm to reports of a man with a weapon.

While the weapon was reportedly seen by the public, no one was threatened with it.

The man could not be found after officers attended, but police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 3.46pm on Tuesday, 22 October to reports of a man being seen with a weapon in Ampere Way, Croydon.

“The man was seen holding a knife was seen getting onto the tram. No members of the public were threatened.

“Officers attended, however the man could not be located.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD4879 of 22 October.

“You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
