South Norwood is a popular neighbourhood with parks, festivals, and art galleries, which can be found in Croydon.
The neighbourhood is home to many green spaces and has many places of cultural significance.
South is served by two train stations: Norwood Junction and Selhurst, making it an easily accessible place to reach as well as helpful to those who need to commute to London.
According to TripAdvisor, the top spot in South Norwood is the South Norwood Lake and Grounds.
The lake was originally created as a reservoir for the Croydon Canal between 1809 and 1836.
The lake is now used by fisherman who fish for carp, bream and perch, and is used by the Croydon Sailing Club.
It’s also home to a variety of aquatic birds, such as the great crested grebe, herons, and ring-necked parakeets.
The grounds are home to the Norwood Sports Club, which offers a variety of recreational activities, including dinghy sailing on Norwood Lake, tennis, cricket, and bowls.
One reviewer on TripAdvisor said: “Love, love, love the lakes.
“Absolutely beautiful in the summer.
“A nice café with lots of local activities.
“A small refreshments hut nearby the picnic area.
“A small playground for the children.
“Great for dog walkers and those with small children.
“A great nature trail with lots of benches to sit and enjoy being with nature.”
Another said: “Love the park here, a lovely well-kept lake with benches surrounding as well as a couple of quiet forest trails.”
Other parks in South Norwood include South Norwood Country Park, Norwood Recreational Ground, and Elmers End Park.
Another popular feature of the area is its cultural history.
South Norwood is home to Stanley Arts, one of the largest arts and performance venues in the surrounding area.
The community arts gallery was first opened in 1903, and was the centre of many national celebrations, including the 1951 Festival of Britain and the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

“It was an immersive piece which led us through the beautiful, historic building where we saw lots of performances by different artists.”
South Norwood is also home to several restaurants, from pizza stores to Caribbean restaurants to Indian restaurants.
According to TripAdvisor, the most popular restaurant in South Norwood is the Bluejay Café.

This Caribbean restaurant on 2 Market Parade has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 on TripAdvisor, with 24 reviews dubbing it excellent.
A reviewer said: “I love this place, the foods amazing.
“The service is fantastic and very friendly, and they’re really welcoming and helpful.”
Another review said: “I visited Bluejay Cafe for breakfast as I was in the area and wanted to visit this place for a while.
“I was very happy that I did - staff were friendly and pleasant and took my order.
“I ordered the Caribbean breakfast which was delicious.
“The restaurant is very clean, spacious and has a wonderful ambience.
“I particularly like all the photos of people who have visited over the years.
“You can tell this café has a very close connection to the local community and surrounding areas.”
Bluejay Café is open from 9am to 7pm from Monday to Saturday and closed on Sunday.
South Norwood also hosts the South Norwood Community Festival every year.
The festival is a traditional summer event with live music, market stalls, food and drinks, and family activities.
According to Rightmove, flats in South Norwood sell for an average of £277,112, with terraced properties going for around £457,958 and semi-detached homes selling on average for £605,238.
