Lidl has confirmed that a brand-new store in Caterham will be opening its doors before Christmas.
The store, located at 67/69 Croydon Road, will be among the first to open, giving local shoppers access to the supermarket's range of high-quality, affordable products.
This comes after Lidl announced two other London locations in Hoxton and Forest Gate, as part of a rapid expansion plan.
A spokesperson for Lidl said they cannot confirm the exact date as to when the Caterham store will be opening, as it is “subject to change”.
In addition to the new openings, Lidl is also refurbishing and expanding existing stores in Chessington and Dagenham, aiming to offer a larger shopping experience to these communities.
The investment in Caterham is part of Lidl's broader push to strengthen its presence in London, following the recent opening of its Fulham store and ongoing national expansion efforts.
This growth comes as Lidl continues to seek out new sites for further stores, addressing increased demand in key areas like Caterham.
Richard Taylor, Chief Development Officer at Lidl GB, said: “Our plan to open three new stores in London before Christmas demonstrates our continued commitment to providing more communities across the country with access to affordable, quality food, as well as employment opportunities.
“But we still have big ambitions for our expansion plans to open hundreds more Lidl stores in the future.
“Our teams are constantly scouring the country for new sites, identifying opportunities not just in towns where we don’t currently have stores, but also in areas where existing stores are experiencing increasing demand.
“Our sale and leaseback deal is just the latest example of how we’re continuing to expand our footprint across the country, ensuring that even more households can benefit from a Lidl store nearby.”
With ten new stores planned across the UK by the end of the year, Lidl’s expansion is aimed at ensuring that more shoppers, from Caterham to Bristol, benefit from its low-price promise.
