A child has died after being hit by a falling tree branch in Banstead.
The incident happened in Grove Place near the junction with Carshalton Road shortly after 4pm today (November 9).
Officers, London Ambulance Service crews and London Fire Brigade attended.
The child died from their injuries shortly after.
Police are in the process of ensuring that all family members have been informed.
The incident is not believed to be suspicious, however enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.
A report will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: "Emergency services were called shortly after 1600hrs on Saturday, 9 November, to a child struck by a falling tree branch in Grove Place near the junction with Carshalton Road, Banstead.
"Officers attended along with London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.
"Sadly, the child died from their injuries.
"Officers are in the process of ensuring that all family members have been informed.
"The incident is not believed to be suspicious, however enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.
"A report will be prepared for the coroner in due course."
