Coulsdon is a popular neighbourhood with parks, award-winning restaurants, and an annual festival, which can be found in the London Borough of Croydon.

The neighbourhood is home to many green spaces and has many places of cultural significance.

Coulsdon is served by three train stations: Coulsdon South, Coulsdon Town, and Woodmansterne Station, making it an easily accessible place to reach as well as helpful to those who need to commute to London.

According to TripAdvisor, the top spot in Coulsdon is Happy Valley Park.

The park was purchased in 1937 by the former Coulsdon and Purley Council until 1965, before it became owned by Croydon Council.

The name Happy Valley was adopted in 1970.

Happy Valley Park contains many herbs which are rare to spot within London as well as the nationally scarce man orchid and round-headed rampion.

One reviewer said: “This park is absolutely stunning.

“This is a beautiful area with nice footpaths and charming autumn colours as well as easy hills to walk around and get rid of the noise and the pollution of the main city.

“Not for everyone as some paths might be slippery and muddy, but a place to enjoy, chill and pop up for fresh air and nice surrounding.”

Another reviewer said: “Fabulous place for walking your dog.

“Lots and lots of space, hills to climb and no car noises at all, just the sounds of nature.

“If you go off the paths into surrounding woods there are very old yew trees, worth finding.

“An oasis of calm.”

Other parks include Coulsdon Memorial Recreation Ground, Farthing Downs, and Grange Park.

Another popular feature of the area is its cultural history.

While Coulsdon and Purley Council may no longer exist, the Coulsdon and Purley Festival has been an ongoing tradition that has taken place every year since 1944.

The festival hosted its 80th anniversary in September, and is a community event where people can sing, dance and play music.

This tradition is one of the oldest traditions to take place in Coulsdon and celebrates the old official community bridge that Coulsdon and Purley once had.

Coulsdon is also home to some award-winning restaurants, including Indian restaurant Curry Leaf.

Curry Leaf, on 7 The Parade, has won several prestigious awards, including the Highly Commended in the Asian Restaurant of the Year in the London Suburbs award in 2023, and its chef Fardous Ahmed Bablu won Asian Chef of the Year award in 2023.
