Four Wetherspoon pubs in Croydon have won Platinum and Gold in the Loo of the Year Awards 2024.

The Loo of the Year Awards are aimed at highlighting the standards of toilet provision in public spaces across the UK.

The Moon Under Water on 1327 London Road in Norbury and The Sir Julian Huxley on 152 Addington Road in Selsdon have each been awarded a platinum rating by inspectors.

The George on George Street and The Foxley Hatch on 8-9 Russell Hill in Purley have been awarded a gold rating by inspectors.

Loo of the Year Awards inspectors made unannounced visits to thousands of toilets at sites across the UK to judge them.

The toilets are grades either silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus, or diamond.

Unacceptable toilets aren’t graded at all.

The toilets are judged through their decor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment, and overall management.

Wetherspoon’s operations director Martin Geoghegan said: “We are thrilled to have won so many awards and recognition for our pubs’ toilets.
“We invest time and money, along with creating great designs, to ensure that we provide our customers with excellent toilets.
“The fact that independent judges have rated Wetherspoon’s pubs so highly, in terms of design, cleanliness and facilities, is very rewarding.
“We will continue to offer the best-possible toilets in our pubs.”
