A pensioner from south east London has been charged after cannabis worth more than £1million was seized by police.
Officers stopped a Ford Transit van on Wrotham Road, Gravesend on Wednesday afternoon (November 13) following reports of suspicious activity.
An estimated 500 kilograms of packed cannabis was found in the van and two men were arrested at the scene.
Enquiries then led detectives to a property in Herne Hill, where they found around 800 kilograms of cannabis.
Jack Phillips, 69, of Poplar Road in Herne Hill, and Ramesh Tuladhar, 57, of Norcott Road, Stoke Newington, have both been charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
On Friday (November 15) they appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court.
They were both remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court at a later date.
