A popular Lidl store in Chessington is set to reopen this week, just in time for shoppers to stock up on Christmas essentials.

Lidl has confirmed that its refurbished store, located on Leatherhead Road, will reopen on Thursday (December 5) following an extension and refurbishment.

To celebrate the occasion, a special ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held, graced by the presence of Kingston's Mayor, Liz Green.

The store will retain its operating hours from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays, but with improved features aimed at enhancing the shopping experience.

The revamped store, covering 1,066m², will house Lidl’s popular bakery, an expanded chilled goods section, and upgraded parking facilities.

The store will keep its popular 'Middle of Lidl' section and will continue to provide customer toilets equipped with baby changing facilities.

Shoppers can also look forward to Lidl Plus offers and complimentary food sampling throughout the reopening weekend.

With Christmas approaching, residents can stock up on festive treats, such as seasonal flavour Deluxe Crisps, Deluxe All Butter Mince Pies, and Deluxe Gift-Wrapped Panettone.

This multi-million-pound investment not only enhances the shopping experience but also creates several new jobs.

All existing staff will remain, and all employees will receive one of the highest pay rates in the retail sector.

Max Clapton, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, said: “We’re excited to be reopening our Chessington store just in time for the festive season.

“Having served the local community for over a decade, we’re confident that our bigger, better store will enhance the shopping experience for all.

“With demand for our high-quality, affordable products continuing to rise, we’re thrilled to offer an improved store that meets the needs of our customers.

“We know the community has been eagerly awaiting this reopening, and we’re sure it will have been worth the wait.”
