When I was living with my mum and dad, I couldn’t wait to move out, mainly because I was looking forward to all the freedom it would give me.
I would have my own living room and watch whatever I wanted. I would be able to play my xbox games on the comfort of a sofa and not the end of my bed. And above all else, I would be able to watch whatever I wanted on TV and not be subjected to the Antiques Roadshow and documentaries featuring some people who I don’t know or care about, moving house.
You see, my mum loves a good episode of The House Doctor, she’ll sit there and soak up all those lifestyle living tips that Anne Maurice in her infinite wisdom, offers the viewer. She even watches the bad ones – that show featuring Colin and Justin, who claim to be interior designers (yet know as much about colour co-ordination as I know about Italian politics!), she loves that.
Now I am no longer living with my mum and dad, I am disappointed to say that Holly likes to watch all these shows too! Even Antiques Roadshow – that’s another thing I really don’t get, although, I do enjoy it when you see these toffs that have been protecting a gargoyle on their mantelpiece, that has scared several generations of kids, only to find out that its worthless (and not priceless as hoped).
And god curse that channel “More 4”, its just more agony for me – it seems to have a never ending back catalogue of interior design shows. What with “Relocation, Relocation”, “Grand Designs”, “Changing Rooms” and “Property Ladder”, I seriously have to ask, how many shows like this do we need?
