Teenage love, isn’t it a wonderful thing? You find the girl or guy of your dreams, spend hours talking together, thinking about each other and eventually share forbidden love with each other and receive titles of boyfriend and girlfriend. Fair enough the process may change from person to person, some people are long term friends before they finally go out but the excitement behind a first relationship is a wonderful thing.
Obviously, since I am a guy I can only guess the girl’s train of thought behind finding a boyfriend and which man knows the mind of a girl? Well no men I have spoken to so far know such a thing and whoever claims such divine knowledge must be the most ignorant man alive (or stupid... or single).
Something which has come to my attention recently is the large difference between the number of relationships between boys and girls. In fact I find this topic so interesting it would be worthwhile conducting a study on it. If you ask girls (ages 14 – 16) I guess you would find 90% of them would have had been in a relationship before. However if you ask boys (ages 14-16) I reckon the percentage would drop significantly, to maybe 55%.
Those figures are definitely not set in stone but that’s the general impression you get. Most young boys either don’t want to go out with a girl or haven’t the courage to ask the girl of their dreams out. However if you look at the girls point of view relationships seem to be taken far more seriously, almost as a sort of street credit and having a boyfriend is quite common.
Now let’s move to the interesting scientific details behind love and relationships. The most amusing research which has been conducted shows that couples usually share a parallel between lung volumes, middle finger length, ear lobe length, overall ear size, neck and waist circumferences and metabolic rates. Have you noticed that most couples look similar to each other?
In terms of teenage love teenagers seem to lose rationality when in love which has a similar effect on the brain as when being induced by cocaine! Ever heard of emotionally attached? Well I guess that’s the addiction side of love. Another study has found that on average, around the age of fifteen, early relationships tend to only last 3 or 4 months. Perhaps finding everlasting love takes practice?
Another topic of interest is soul mates. Do you believe you have a soul mate? Personally, as an Atheist I can’t see the possibility of soul mates but it would be great to have some comments posted below on it. How does a person find their soul mate? Is it possible to ever break up/divorce from your soul mate?
This article is more of a discussion rather than me forcing my opinions on everyone and it would be great to have some feedback.
