I've just started watching 24 season six. For those of you who don't know (shame on you!), Twenty Four is an American drama, set in 'real time', that features Jack Bauer (played by Kiefer Sutherland) thwarting all sorts of terrorist threats.
The guy has had everything and the kitchen sink thrown at him. In season one, his wife was killed by his ex-girlfriend, who then turned out to be a terrorist. In season two, he successfully prevented a nuclear bomb going off in Los Angeles (it went off outside of it instead, obviously radiation isn't a problem out there). In season three, he thwarted a terrorist plot to poison Los Angeles (why they keep going for Los Angeles I don't know). In season four, I can't remember what it was, but I am sure it was dangerous and in Season Five, he uncovered a plot concieved by the current president to assassinate the previous one, only to be kidnapped and imprisoned by the Chinese at the end of it (for killing a Chinese consulate).
Now, I am currently 2 hours into season six and in those two hours, Jack has:
- been released by the Chinese.
- been passed on by the American authorities to “terrorist a” in exchange for some information on “terrorist b” who is blowing stuff up.
- escaped from the “terrorist a” after learning that “terrorist b” is innocent and it is actually “terrorist a” doing all the bombs.
- called the American authorities and advised them, only to be told he is wrong
- located “terrorist b” and rescued him before the Americans could blow him up
- saved people on a subway train (that's the American version of the underground) from a suicide bomber
Now, I know 24 is set in real time, but achieving all that in 2 hours is a bit of a stretch if you ask me. In the last two hours, I have:
- paid a visit to my parents at lunch time.
- sat here and sent a few emails.
- written this blog.
