My name is Shereen Samara (née Walker) and I am running the London Marathon this year for Trinity Hospice in memory of my grandfather, Frankie Walker, who passed away at the Hospice in 1998. As I was only 15 at the time, I have waited until it is the 10-year anniversary to do something special to say thank you to Trinity who provided absolutely invaluable help for my family during the most difficult time we had ever experienced. I also wanted to run the marathon to send a special message to Frankie (as everyone called him!) that we all love him and he's as special today as always.

The marathon for me is a big challenge as, although my surname was 'Walker', I actually drive everywhere! Such a major physical activity like running for over 26 miles is going to be very demanding!

My whole diet and routine has changed; I've been ensuring that I eat more healthily, (excuse the egg fried rice and deep fried prawns I had for lunch today!) I've been drinking more orange and cranberry juices on a daily basis, eating more fruits and running or walking for at least an hour each day.

As the date gets closer I am feeling really excited and looking forward to completing the challenge, getting my medal, the t-shirt that I bought says 'Frankie Says Relax' so I think I had better take the advice on the day and pace myself as I don't wanna be worn out by the second mile!

I'm just really motivated to get the best sponsorship that I can for Trinity as the staff really deserve it; they work so hard with a genuine care for the people that come to the Hospice. My sponsorship is going well; I've received a lot of encouragement from my family and friends with my family donating a large percent also. I'm about to do the rounds at work and church so hopefully that should boost things just a bit!
