The entrepreneurial challenge to make as much money as possible for charity from £100 is back.

The Croydon C100 Challenge sees 14 teams compete to raise as much cash as they can from their starting capital of £100.

Each team has six members who must “put their brains together” to devise imaginative and lucrative ways to transform the money into thousands of pounds for charity.

Anything is possible, providing it is not illegal, to try and make money and team members can donate money if the team loses its £100.

The team who raises the most money wins a celebration meal for six, including wine and transport in a stretched limousine, at Gaucho’s Grill in London on Friday, July 20.

The money raised by all the teams will be donated to local charities.

The team from the Croydon Guardian will be pitting their wits against the other competitors in a bid to raise the most funds.

Each week we will be reporting on a different way we have tried to maximise our cash for charity, and how succesful we have been.

Other teams involved include Mott McDonald, Cobra Insurance, Barclays, Allders and Lexis Nexis.

Last year’s winners were DMC Business Machines who raised £4,300, with the grand total raised by all nine teams was £21,493.

The proceeds were donated to the South East Cancer Help Centre based in Purley.

Last year’s winners enjoyed a meal, kindly donated by India Dining in Warlingham.

This year’s competition kicked off on June 8 and ends on July 13 when all teams will be asked to report their final total of money raised to the organisers as well as hand in the funds.

The winning team will then be announced on the morning of July 19 at the Hilton Hotel, Purley Way, Croydon.
