The rain stopped just before the outdoor events for the first Canbury Arts Festival at the weekend, as the community gathered for brunch and jazz in the vicarage garden and nearby pubs.
Another moment which co-organiser Father Martin might have put down to a higher power happened during the Festival Classics performance inside St Luke’s Church, when a helium balloon in the shape of a love heart, which had been in the rafters of the church since February, dropped down from the ceiling.
Organiser Sam Edgington said: “It couldn’t have been planned any better. It was an absolutely brilliant weekend. We had great attendance with everything and the weather held out.
"The jazz brunch was sold out and I think everybody had a good time. The Festival Classics was a particular highlight with such a mix of diverse talent with the local singers mixed with professionals."
