Table tennis loving older people will have more chances to work on their serves and smashes after the expansion of a popular sports club.
The group for retired residents currently meets every week on Wednesday mornings at Colliers Wood Community Centre - but its members’ passion for ping pong means fortnightly sessions are also set to run on Thursday mornings from June 18.
A spokesman for Merton University of the Third Age (U3A), which organises the sessions, said: “The first Thursday session will be on June 18, and any older or retired people who are interested can attend up to two ‘taster’ sessions to see how they like it.
After that will need to join Merton U3A which costs just £10 for a year’s membership.”
Sessions will run from 10 to 12am, and cost £1. For more information call Dave Esbester on 020 8646 5545.
