A 27-year-old journalist from Battersea is receiving rave reviews after publishing his first book.
Dan Jones, of Reform Street, has been featured in the Sunday Times, the Telegraph and the Observer for his medieval history book, Summer of Blood.
The book tells the story of the peasants’ revolt in 1381, when the people rose up against their masters.
Many people have drawn a parallel between that period and the state of politics this year, with backbenchers having their own peasants’ revolt.
Mr Jones said: “What I write about is heads being cut off. Now we have punishment at the ballet box instead.
"We are definitely having our own summer of blood, but this summer, luckily, the blood is metaphorical.”
The Cambridge-educated historian, who has worked for the Guardian, the Spectator and Men’s Health, prides himself on his accessible, character-driven style.
He is now working on his second book, about the family of Henry II, which will be published late in 2010.
Summer of Blood, is available in hardback at £20. For more information visit summerofblood.com.
