The Environment Agency has warned that "localised" flooding could occur in the London area this evening (Thursday) as forecasters predict heavy rain.
The agency has put nine London rivers on flood watch in Sutton, Merton, Wandsworth, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond upon Thames,the areas near Beverley Brook Catchment, Pyl Brook, East Pyl Brook and their tributaries are on flood alert.
And in Croydon, Sutton, Merton, Lambeth, Wandsworth the rivers Wandle, Graveney, Norbury Brook and their tributaries.
Lee James, Flood Incident Management Team Leader at the Agency, said the agency was "not currently anticipating" that rivers could overflow and damage properties.
He cautioned, however, that people should be "aware of the possible risk of localised flooding in some areas, particularly South East London." The Agency also said there was a risk that surface water floods might cause property damage.
Forecasts predict up to 30mm of rain may fall in some parts of London this evening before the bad weather dies away.
