Ewell Wheatsheaf pub evacuated after suspicious package found in car park
A bomb threat has brought chaos to Ewell village this afternoon as people were evacuated from their homes and drinkers from The Wheatsheaf pub.
Police officers went door to door ordering people from their homes in the roads surrounding the pub and telling them to evacuate to Bourne Hall.
Police blocked off some of the roads in the village as an army bomb disposal squad was summoned. Fire engines were put on standby as the bomb disposal squad went to work.
"We were just told to leave our homes as quickly as possible," said a young mum as she carried her toddler to safety at Bourne Hall.
