The excitement is mounting as teams across Croydon begin trying to increase the charity cash flow in Croydon Commitment’s C100 challenge.
The 14 teams have been charged with the task of turning £100 into as much money as possible for local charities.
Each team has six members who must “put their brains together” to devise imaginative and lucrative ways to transform the money into thousands of pounds.
And already the teams have been getting their thinking caps on to start raising some cash, including the Croydon Guardian.
Across the weeks of the challenge, finishing on July 13, we will stage events to raise money for the C100. Other teams have already begun their fundraising efforts.
Mott MacDonald sold more than 160 doughnuts, had to order more, and staged a raffle with prizes such as a gym pass for two, a homeopathic remedy kit and a manicure.
Lexis Nexis will hold a cake sale, an eat-as-much-as-you-can contest, a quiz night and a finale of charity auction.
At PPF, they celebrated the Epsom Derby with a raffle and collection box.
Other teams involved include Cobra Insurance, Barclays, and Allders.
This year’s competition kicked off on June 8 and ends on July 13 when all teams will be asked to report their final total of money raised to the organisers as well as hand in the funds.
The winning team will then be announced on the morning of July 19 at the Hilton Hotel, Purley Way, Croydon.
If you would like to make a donation to the Croydon Guardian’s fund send a cheque or postal order made payable to Newsquest Ltd to the address on the information panel on this page.
