Residents going to next month’s Big Lunch event must tell Croydon Council before June 19 if their activity involves a street party or road closure.
The council is asking participants expecting more than 500 guests to consult safety regulations on their website croydon.gov.uk.
The council is hoping that the Big Lunch will encourage residents to sit down and communicate with their neighbours. Croydon's Cabinet member Gavin Barwell believes that the Big Lunch will have a lasting, positive effect within neighbours.
He said: “It’s a great opportunity for friends, neighbours and streets to come together... strong communities are good for everyone living in Croydon.”
