A pizza takeaway has had its late-night licence revoked after it was found to be trading beyond permitted hours and operating without doormen.
TGF Pizza in Gordon Road, Carshalton, now returns to the same 11pm closing time it had before December 2008.
The decision follows objections from Sutton police at Sutton Council’s licensing committee meeting on Tuesday June 9.
Last December the takeaway sought licence to extend its opening hours to 2.30am.
However, the business only received permission to trade until midnight and was told to hire doormen after 11pm and put CCTV in place.
In early 2009 Sutton police and the council licensing team, alerted to the business by residents, kept a brief watch on the premises and decided to take action after finding the conditions of the licence were not being met.
Executive member for environment on Sutton Council Councillor Colin Hall said the council would not hesitate to revoke a licence from any business that ignored warnings or breached its conditions.
Licensing Sergeant Deborah Blight, of Sutton Police, said residents who saw licensed businesses trading after permitted hours should report it to police at tlicensing@met.police.uk.
