Stunned Kingston residents awoke to a saucier morning delivery than their regular milk run this week, as the Heinz ketchup doorstep delivery service began making trial rounds in the area.
The baffling breakfast time delivery driver was handing out free bottles of the classic condiment to residents willing to mime the different ways they get tomato sauce from the bottle, including the hard slap on the bottom and the wiggle with a knife.
Bob Taylor from Kings Road was all ready with the weekly money for his regular milkman when the fruity interloper knocked on his door.
He said: “It was weird - I thought the milkman had got a different coloured van for the day. It’s the day we normally pay him, so it was quite a shock.
“I didn’t mind at all though - I came away with a free bottle.”
The trial is being held in a bid to ensure people do not run out of sauce for their bacon butties, poached eggs or full English in the mornings, and if successful deliveries could be rolled out to other areas of the country.
