A Surbiton teenager has been slashed in the head, chest and thigh after a brawl at a fairground in Caterham.
The mass fight happened on Friday, June 12, and broken bottles, a hammer and knife were used as weapons.
Two opposing groups met near the fairground in Westway, at about 9.15pm, and a verbal argument soon escalated into violence.
A 19-year-old man from Surbiton received a 2cm cut to his chest, a cut on his left thigh and a 4cm cut on the back of his head, all requiring stitches.
Another teenager suffered a swollen right check and a small cut to his forehead, and two others were treated for minor cuts and grazes.
Detective Sergeant Alex Gillott said: “This was a large scale fight at what should have been an enjoyable community event.
“I believe those responsible for inflicting these injuries travelled into Caterham with the sole intention of starting a fight and that is something Surrey Police will not tolerate.”
An 18-year-old man from West Molesey was arrested and released on police bail.
Witnesses are asked to call Surrey Police on 0845 1252222, quoting reference TD/09/3153.
