In their first competitive season, Hurst Park Juniors have become champions of the Surrey Primary League U9s Division One by winning their last match of the season.
At the beginning of the season they were placed in the U9s Division Three but their results were so good that they were rapidly transferred to Division 1.
The teams, drawn from local schools, maintained their good form but were unfortunate to have a number of games postponed because of bad weather.
As a result the team had a big fixture back log as the climax of the league season approached.
It gradually climbed the league table as the games in hand were played but still had to win their last match to win the title. Responding well to the pressure they beat Staines Town by 3 goal(s) to 0 to leapfrog Frimley Green Rhinos into first place in the league to become champions.
On Sunday 14th June the Team attended the Surrey Primary League Awards Day at The University of Surrey Guildford where team captain John Gilbert lifted the Div 1 Trophy and each player was presented with Winners Medals.
