Neil Warnock has clinched his second signing of the summer after Freddie Sears joined the Eagles on a season-long loan from West Ham United.

The 19-year-old was told by Upton Park boss Gianfranco Zola he would be allowed to leave the club on loan this season in order to get some first team football, and the striker turned down overtures from Peterborough United and Sheffield Wednesday to join Palace.

The England U20 international made an explosive start to his professional career, coming off the bench to head the winner against Blackburn Rovers on his debut.

Since then he has made 28 more appearances for the Hammers, mostly from the bench, but failed to find the net again.
