Wimbledon's teenage sensation Laura Robson gave former world number five Daniela Hantuchova the fright of her life in the first round at SW19 before bowing out in three sets on Monday.
The 16-year-old, ranked 482 in seniors, was given a wildcard into the main draw after claiming the girls' singles title 12 months ago.
She was handed the daunting gtask of taking on the Slovakian, who is still ranked 33, and responded magnificently, taking the first set 6-3 on the new-look Court Two.
Robson appeared on the verge of a famous victory when she went a break up in the second set but was unable to consolidate, being broken back immediately by Hantuchova, who went on to take the second set 6-4.
The pressure started to show on the youngster in the deciding set, with her serve letting her down and errors creeping into her game.
Hantuchova's experience showed as she closed out the match 6-2, but Robson will have learnt much from her taste of the big time.
