A music teacher from Sutton raised over £20,000 in five years for a charity that helped her mother cope with an eye condition.
Liz Wardle, 54, whose elderly mother suffered with macular disease for over a decade, raised the money for the Macular Disease Society by performing fundraising concerts with the Esterhazy Ensemble, a small group of musicians who play chamber music.
Macular disease sufferers gradually lose their central vision, leaving them unable to see faces, watch television or read. The next Esterhazy Ensemble concert will happen on Sunday at the Sutton Salvation Army Hall. For tickets call 020 8643 4822.
